Edward P. Nordberg, Jr.
Mr. Nordberg is Wakefield’s Executive Chairman which he founded in 2004. He provides financial and healthcare industry expertise leveraging more than 25 years of investment experience. Mr. Nordberg is also a principal and director of Alex. Brown Realty, Inc., a real estate and private equity firm based in Baltimore, MD.
Since 2010, Mr. Nordberg has directed Wakefield’s investments in senior housing. From 2006 to 2010, Wakefield operated an approximate $225 million equity joint venture with NorthStar Realty finance (NYSE: NRF). Through that investment vehicle, Wakefield acquired, managed and disposed (in part) of $750 million in seniors housing and healthcare-related real estate. From May 2004 through April 2006, Mr. Nordberg directed Wakefield’s investment activities on behalf of its partners and CNL Retirement, Inc.
From April 1998 through April 2004, Mr. Nordberg served as CFO and, later, CEO of Medical Office Properties, Inc. Medical Office Properties’ medical building portfolio was sold to CNL Retirement, Inc. in April 2004 for $256.5 million. In 1993, Mr. Nordberg co-founded and served as CFO and Director of HealthCare Financial Partners, Inc., a healthcare finance company, which was taken public in 1996 (NYSE: HCF) and sold to Heller Financial (GE Capital) in 1999 for $750 million.
Prior to 1993, Mr. Nordberg was a practicing attorney with Williams & Connolly in Washington, DC. Mr. Nordberg is currently a Trustee of Washington College and Chairman of the US Lacrosse Foundation. Mr. Nordberg received his B.A. from Washington College, his M.B.A. from Loyola College and his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center.
